Welcome to our vanity project.

In October 2016 we got together at the newly formed but not yet fully operational Visconti Studio to almost improvise a cover of Scott Walker's Duchess (1969). Leah sang and played piano, Andrew played guitar. A month or two later we returned to the studio to mix.

Having had that fun we felt like doing it again with another song so rushed back to the studio 2 years later. It was Andrew's turn to sing and play a bit more guitar, while Leah again provided piano and a lot of ambience. It was another night of making it up as we went along; producing the accidentally dark and brooding Death of Samantha (Yoko Ono, 1973) you hear today.

We mastered both tracks to quarter-inch tape in December 2019.

It might be a vanity project, but before all that it's a tribute to two icons - in Scott Walker and Yoko Ono - and two great songs.

We must thank some friends. Alex Evans for living his Penny Lane fantasy at the mellotron before skipping over to the organ on Duchess. Rob Plummer helped us to connect up many things during the recording of Samantha. And Minki Cheng has produced two great pieces of artwork (in oils no less) by taking some nebulous and simple ideas and running off into much more interesting places.

We have a beautiful and interesting clear square disc, through which you can see the artwork - a cover for each song. It has cost us more than we can ever recoup, but hey, it's a vanity project.
